She’s barely a month into her job as recreation manager, but Erica Genuardi has big plans for the new Norristown Recreation Center.
As the old Greater Norristown Police Athletic League (GNPAL) building on Harding Boulevard takes on the renovations that will prepare it for its new lease on life, the West Norriton native has time to fine-tune those plans and develop partnerships for the new center, writes Gary Puleo at timesherald.com.

“We have to bring the building up to code. There’s a lot of electrical work and we’re just in the beginning stages,” said Genuardi, whose name will be familiar to area residents as the familythat owns and operates Genuardi Gardens & Greenhouses on Fornance Street in Norristown.
Genuardi, a Kennedy-Kenrick grad, said she couldn’t be more excited about moving into a brand new position that seems to have been created with her in mind.
Last fall the GNPAL board of directors announced an impending agreement to “transition management and ownership of the center to become the Municipality of Norristown Recreational Center,” effective Dec. 31.
“We are delighted to have served the community for so many years and established a successful variety of programs at the center for the municipality to take to the next level in the interest of the youth and families of our community,” stated GNPAL Board President Lee Holmes.
