Montgomery County sheriff launches new mobile phone app
A new free mobile phone app will allow users to stay on top of the latest news from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The MontcoPASheriff App provides one-touch access to MCSO services and news and is available to download on iOS and Android platforms. Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny made the announcement during a press event in his office on July 30, 2018, according to a submitted press release.
“Our partnership with OCV, LLC TheSheriffApp.com created a perfect opportunity for us to deliver a solution which improves communications and experiences with our office,” said Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny. “Advancing technology that best serves our constituents has always been one of my priorities.”

OCV specializes in developing products for public safety, emergency management, and sheriff’s offices and has developed over 200 native apps for iOS and Android mobile devices. Other local clients include Norristown Municipality and the Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Association.
“People will be able to send us anonymous tips straight from the app without having to go through a social media account or email,” said Warrants and Transportation Divisions Lt. Joanne Lawlor.
The app, which was funded through a special technology improvement grant, also helps the MCSO save time and resources. Information and notifications can be posted on multiple channels, such as the web and social media sites, through a single control panel instead of entering data on each platform.
