Norristown and Upper Merion are taking different approaches to the 2018 National Night Out. While the festival in Norristown will be entirely local, Upper Merion will host a grand event with first responders from many surrounding communities. (Photo courtesy of flickr.com.)

Norristown will host National Night Out in the 1300 block of Willow Street, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7, featuring Norristown Police, Norristown Fire Department, Town Watch, local churches and organizations.

The same evening, the Upper Merion Township Police Department will host a lavish festival in the Target parking lot, 160 W. DeKalb Pike, King of Prussia, 6 to 9 p.m., featuring food, games, crafts and bounce houses for kids, raffle prizes and information — all for free, writes Gary Puleo at timesherald.com.
