The newest small-format Target store opening in our area is coming to Ardmore’s Lancaster Avenue in summer 2019.

The Minnesota-based retailer on Tuesday confirmed plans first reported by theBusiness Journal that a new brick-and-mortar location will open near the corner of Lancaster and Ardmore avenues, not far from the SEPTA Regional Rail stop and a short walk from the Suburban Square shopping destination, writes Alison Burdo in The Philadelphia Business Journal.

“Our new Ardmore store will offer guests a convenient, one-stop shopping experience on the Main Line near the Ardmore Station and Haverford College. We’ll provide a curated assortment of exclusive apparel and accessories for the whole family, groceries, beauty products, and more, as well as a convenient pick-up point for online orders,” said Target’s Mark Schindele in a statement.

Expected to occupy around 31,00 square feet, the store will be part of a larger mixed-use development that will also include 35 apartments above the lower retail levels, according to plans submitted to Lower Merion.

The Ardmore Target will be its eighth flexible format store in our region. Several locations opened recently in different Center City neighborhoods, as well as one in Roxborough.

The company said the Ardmore store – which will carry groceries, and beauty and baby care products, apparel, toys and sporting goods, as well as contain a CVS Pharmacy – will open in July 2019. Target anticipates hiring between 50 and 75 team members for the new Main Line location.
