Temple University’s Fox School of Business is opening a new presence in Philadelphia’s western suburbs, as it aims to draw suburbanites who also work outside the city and don’t want to battle traffic on the Schuylkill Expressway.

Fox’s Assistant Dean of Marketing and Graduate Enrollment Tom Kegelman said the school is launching a cohort-based, part-time MBA program in (West) Conshohocken, with the first class set to start in fall 2018, writes Michelle Caffrey for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Based in The WorkShop Mercantile, the suburban part-time MBA program will differ slightly from the one offered at Temple’s campus in the city, which isn’t cohort-based, by being more structured in the first year to build up interpersonal connections between students. During the second year, the MBA candidates will have more flexibility to take classes specific to their concentrations with Fox professors online. Kegelman said they expect between 36 to 40 students in the first cohort.

“Our industry research suggests that students want a portion of their MBA program to be delivered online, which has led to more hybrid MBA programs. While this isn’t a hybrid, it does fuse the two programs together,” Kegelman said. “It’s the best of both worlds.”
