The Villanova University School of Business has appointed Matthew Manion as the new faculty director for the Center for Church Management, writes Lou Baldwin for Catholic Philly.

Manion will replace Dr. Charles Zech, who has decided to step down from his role as the faculty director for the Center for Church Management (CCM) and Master’s of Science in Church Management Program.

Zech, who established the program thirteen years ago as the first of its kind in the country, will remain at the institution to assist with the transition.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, Manion last position was senior fellow at the Catholic Leadership Institute in Wayne.

Now, as part of his duties as the faculty director of CCM, Manion will work in partnership with Jim Gallo, the CCM director.

“What I have experienced and seen through the master’s program is we can help people who work for the church, or who want to work for the church, with a combination of skills from the business school and also include courses in canon law, ecclesiology and Catholic social teaching,” said Manion.
