Jenkintown’s Goodway Group is using the internet to find people with the skills it needs who can work remotely, writes Jane M. Von Bergen for Philly.com.

Now, over a decade on, the advertising media planning and buying company has around 400 employees, most of which have neither worked nor ever lived in Jenkintown.

According to David Wolk, chief executive of the Goodway Group, once the company decided to hire remote employees, a certain profile of people who work well independently soon became obvious.

“First of all, we are about 75 percent female, and average age is 35,” he said to Philly.com. “There’s this whole thing about working from home and being able to be a super mom by having a great job, but having some flex time to take care of everything.”

This has helped Goodway find some extraordinary employees who were willing to give up their higher paying jobs for flexibility and the independence of working from home.

He added that another advantage of having all their employees working from home is the office cost.

“I think for 400 people if were in Philly, it would have to be a million dollars a year in rent.”
