Tory Burch: From the Outskirts of Philadelphia to One of Today’s Most Successful Designers
From the outskirts of Philadelphia, Valley Forge’s Tory Burch has catapulted to the top of the fashion world by becoming one of today’s most successful designers, according to a staff report from Evening Standard.
The daughter of financier Buddy Robinson and actress and model Reva Robinson, Burch attended the Agnes Irwin School in Rosemont and continued her studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her first job in fashion was at King of Prussia’s Benetton before she moved on to work for designers such as Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang.
She continued her journey to the top by opening her first store in Nolita thirteen years ago. This was followed by an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show which helped boost Burch’s business to its current 200 stores worldwide.
Her boutiques around the world are well known for their lifestyle brand which is both luxurious and affordable. Not only that, but her designs are now worn by stars such as Jessica Alba, and Reese Witherspoon.
