Philadelphia Business Journal Praises Montco Companies for Their Philanthropy
With its annual Faces of Philanthropy Awards, the Philadelphia Business Journal recently highlighted “what the business community is doing to make the region a better place for all of the region’s people.”
As a result, the PBJ honored a number of suburban companies for their work with the nonprofit sector.
The criterion for this year’s awards was measurable impact. How did the philanthropic initiative make a change in the lives of others?

AmerisourceBergen with Project C.U.R.E.
Last year, AmerisourceBergen, which has a large presence in Conshohocken, teamed up with Project C.U.R.E. to collect excess and gently used equipment from hospitals in the region and distribute them to medical facilities in developing nations. Also, AmerisourceBergen’s $50,000 grant enabled Project C.U.R.E. to buy a truck and support logistics of the supplies at a distribution center in Kennett Square.
PECO with ACHIEVEability
Nonprofit agency ACHIEVEability provided affordable housing and social services to 140 families, which included 253 children. PECO, ACHa’s strategic partner, provided in-kind donations, sponsorships, and more than 150 volunteer hours in the last 18 months. The ACHa/PECO partnership has helped vulnerable families throughout the city break the cycle of poverty.
Teva Pharmaceuticals with Community Volunteers in Medicine
Teva, with a location in North Wales, is a generous donor to Community Volunteers in Medicine. The support CVIM received from Teva in 2016 helped it treat 3,392 patients during 35,221 visits — a 10 percent increase in both volumes over the previous year.
