The recent changes in the state liquor laws are making it easier for business owners to expand their operations and Lansdale’s Round Guys Brewing is taking full advantage of these adjustments, writes Harold Brubaker for Philly.com.

Following the revision to the liquor code two years ago that allowed breweries to sell beer by the pint, Round Guys started work on a second location on South Wood Street.

The new site, which had its grand opening on Friday, also includes an independent cafe and a basement venue for live music.

“While it does look like we’re opening another brewpub right across the street from ours, it’s a different atmosphere and a different clientele,” said owner, Scott Rudich.

One of the main advantages of the new location for Round Guys is a walk-in refrigerator. “Having this space is going to allow us to store beer at refrigerator temperature,” said Rudich.

In addition, the new location has an added economic development dimension. Round Guys have invested close to $170,000 in the hopes of helping revitalize Lansdale.

The first signs that the venture will quickly pay off were evident during its soft opening on April 8, when both drag shows sold out immediately to enthusiastic customers.
