Iron Hill GM Still Stands Alone in Burger Month Challenge

In retrospect, a month’s worth of savory half-pound burgers from Iron Hill seems more like a mountain of meat. Maybe that’s why no other man has taken up general manager Warren Sewell on his National Burger Month challenge.

Four years ago this month, Sewell sat down and cleaned his plate of Iron Hill’s one-a-day menu of exotic burger combinations for all 31 days of May, according to a Billy Penn report by Danya Henninger.

This year, that feat started with the Frickle Burger and consumed the El Fuego Hamburguesa, Hangover Burger and The Big Cheeseowski, while the Louisiana Voodoo Burger, Armed Forces Tribute Burger, Fire on the Mountain Burger and Brewmaster’s Burger are yet to come, culminating in a finale with The Drunk Monk Burger.

While Sewell said he never got bored taking a bite out of the creative combinations, he did have to change his preference from medium-rare to well done by month’s end.

Next year may just be the big one for somebody in Philly, as Sewell will man the grand opening of the new Center City Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant just ahead of the now-famous National Burger Month.
