Lidl U.S. Operations, equitable owner of 2601-2619 Ridge Pike, has submitted an application seeking zoning relief for development of the property situated at the corner of Ridge Pike and Trooper Road in Lower Providence Township.

This site includes a Sunoco gas station and the long-vacant former Norristown Ford dealership.

Lidl is a retail grocery store founded in Germany that operates more than 10,000 stores in 27 countries across Europe. As part of its expansion into the United States, Lidl plans to open approximately 100 stores in the eastern United States by the end of 2018.

The application will be considered by the Lower Providence Township Zoning Hearing Board at its meeting on May 25.

If successful, the next step for Lidl would be to file a land development application and proceed through the land development process, which would start with a review by the Township Planning Commission.
