IKEA, the Swedish furniture manufacturing giant with its U.S. headquarters in Conshohocken, is featured on People’s inaugural “50 Companies That Care” list.

The list recognizes companies that go above and beyond to create a caring environment for their employees and supports them both in their professional and personal lives. It is compiled jointly by People and Great Place to Work.

Survey responses from over 368,000 individuals employed by businesses in the U.S. across a wide range of industries were used to compile the list. Other factors that were taken into account include company benefits, charitable work and the positive impact they have had on the lives of their employees.

IKEA U.S. has also recently received recognition from stakeholders, the media, and customers for its newly implemented parental leave policy.

This offers up to four months of paid parental leave to all of its employees. In addition, IKEA implemented a minimum wage structure two years ago that focuses on local living costs as opposed to the cost of labor.

“What we found so striking about the Companies That Care was just how personal their employees’ stories were,” said Kim Peters, executive vice president of Great Place to Work.
