Five years into operations, the Valley Forge Casino Resort will be undergoing some major refurbishments including purchasing 60 brand new slot machines, writes Jane M. Von Bergen for Philly.com.

“We have purchased in the past three months more new slot machines than we did in the previous almost five years combined,” said CEO Eric Pearson, in an interview with Philly.com.

The new machines will be variations of the type casino is currently using as those are the ones that are permitted under Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

However, there will be changes in types of games in the casino. Skill-based slot machines are nowadays merging the slot machine experience with video games, similar to the ones people play for fun on their mobile devices or computers.

“It’s like if you play Tetris or Candy Crush, if you have more practice and you’re a better player, you can improve the outcome through your skills,” explained Pearson.

However, one issue the casino has been facing lately is the tightening labor market, especially when it comes to line level staff.

“That’s because the country’s biggest mall is literally a stone’s throw from our property,” he noted.
