Greater Philadelphia is the place to be for young professionals, according to a new study by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

According to the study, 93 percent of new and mid-career professionals say they believe their next job could be in the region. Greater Philadelphia was the most appealing to professionals ages 25-39, led by factors such as safety and affordability.

According to the chamber, the survey was designed to help improve understanding of the professional and personal motivators for mid-career professionals in the region.

“In the last five years, there has been an anecdotal feel about being in this region, about it becoming a much more attractive place for young people to start their careers,” said Geoff Brandon, regional vice president at TD Bank. “To see this survey bear that out is very encouraging.”

In addition to staying in Greater Philadelphia, 97 percent also said they would recommend the area to others. The results also showed that more than 71 percent of those surveyed own a home in the area or plan to buy one in the following five years.
