Paratek Pharmaceuticals Looking for Local Talent for Its King of Prussia Offices
Paratek Pharmaceuticals, which specializes in the development of antibiotics, is looking for local talent to fill the growing needs of its King of Prussia office, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.
When Boston based Paratek opened its King of Prussia location last summer, it employed 11 people. Since then, the number of employees has more than doubled to 24 over the last year, and expects to double or triple again by the end of next year.
Paratek’s president and chief medical officer, Dr. Evan Loh, previously worked at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and is familiar with the local landscape. He stated that the skill set of the local market is exactly what the company is looking for at this moment.
Loh also pointed out that Paratek has evolved from a company oriented on research, to one that is deep into late-stage clinical testing of omadacycline, its lead new drug candidate. Omadacycline is a potential oral and IV medicine for treating skin infections and pneumonia.
“We needed people who have done late-stage development and brought an NDA across the finish line,” he said.
