IKEA Launches New Campaign to Support Children’s Development and Learning

Conshohocken’s IKEA ranked in eleventh place on the EPA’s National Top 100 list of the largest green power users from the Green Power Partnership.

Swedish furniture giant IKEA, which has its U.S. headquarters in Conshohocken, has launched the ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign that is designed to help support children’s development and learning through sports and play.

During the campaign, which runs until December 24, the IKEA Foundation will donate €1 ($1.10) for every soft toy, book, and small play furniture item sold. Proceeds will go towards supporting a children’s right to play and develop in some of the most vulnerable communities in the world.

For the campaign, the IKEA Foundation has partnered with Handicap International Federation, Room to Read, Save the Children, Special Olympics, UNICEF, and War Child.

“Children suffer the most in a crisis situation, and we are committed to upholding and raising awareness of their rights,” commented Per Heggenes, CEO of IKEA Foundation.

Lars Petersson, IKEA’s US President, said that the company believes that every child has the right to have as part of their everyday lives where they can develop through play.

“In partnership with the IKEA Foundation, Let’s Play for Change has the potential to change the lives of thousands of children around the world,” added Petersson.
