VFTCB President and CEO Mike Bowman will trade his suit and tie for a chef's jacket to cook for Norristown residents at the Siloam Baptist Church soup kitchen on Friday.

Chef Mike Bowman, otherwise known as the President and CEO of the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, will soon transform the lunch menu of the soup kitchen of Siloam Baptist Church in Norristown into something spectacular.

On Friday, from 12-1:30 PM, Bowman will be in full chef attire with knives a-blazing. With assistance from students of Montgomery County Community College’s Culinary Arts Institute, he will transform a traditional soup-kitchen meal into a gourmet offering.

This Restaurant Impossible-style takeover marks the culmination of the VFTCB’s effort to raise 1,776 pounds of nonperishable food in Montgomery County near the one-year anniversary of the Montgomery County visit from Pope Francis.

Two weeks ago, the VFTCB launched the Valley Forge Freedom from Hunger campaign, in the Pontiff’s name and to commemorate his visit.
