Healthiest Employer, a privately held technology firm that has served more than 6,000 employers in North America, is a leading analytics resource, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Its Healthiest Employer Award recognizes organizations that proactively improve the health of their population. The national awards program evaluates employers of all sizes, industries, and stages of worksite wellness.

The Healthiest Employer Award is a web-based, 65-question survey scored using the Healthiest Employer Index (HEI), a scale of 1-100.

The HEI measures wellness programing across six key categories:

  1. Culture and Leadership Commitment
  2. Foundational Components
  3. Strategic Planning
  4. Communications and Marketing
  5. Programming and Interventions
  6. Reporting and Analysis

For smaller employers of between 2 and 499 people, Bala Cynwyd’s Tokio Marine North America Services, which provides professional services to insurers, was the runner-up. Ursinus College and King of Prussia’s Tozour Energy Systems both qualified for honorable mention.

The Tokio Marine wellness program “The Good Life” was a 2015 initiative in support of its Good Company philosophy that embodies three main tenets: Look Beyond Profit, Empower Our People, and Deliver On Commitments.

The investment the company has made to The Good Life program serves as a tangible commitment to that philosophy. The Good Life program is a vital part of empowering the staff and enhancing the overall benefits program by providing ways for employees to care for themselves and their dependents.

For employers of between 500 and 1,499 people, Liberty Lutheran of Ambler and Fox Rothschild, which has an office in Blue Bell, were honorable mention.

For larger employers of between 1,500-4,999 people, Gilbane, a national construction and real estate company with a location in Norristown, and Plymouth Meeting’s CBIZ, a professional services company, were both honorable mention.
