A rash of pill thefts pills resulted in a hefty court settlement and pushed Abington Hospital to invest close to $2 million in program to prevent similar thefts in the future.

Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health, formerly Abington Memorial Hospital, has 665 beds and more than 5,500 employees, including more than 1,100 physicians, and is one of the largest employers in Montgomery County. It has the only Level II trauma center in Montgomery County. Some of the services offered at the hospital include The Pilla Heart Center, The Rosenfield Cancer Center, and Neurosciences Institute.

Compliance Auditor

This position promotes the goals of the compliance program and assists in the day-to-day operations of the Compliance Department. He/she leads activities that include coordinating audits, conducting and reporting on investigations, monitoring corrective actions, and maintaining a system for documenting compliance activities. Other responsibilities include researching and responding to HIPAA and regulatory inquiries, investigating patient and hospital privacy concerns, and developing, coordinating, and conducting training programs.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, nursing, business, or a related field. He/she should have at least two years of hospital and/or health system compliance experience. Experience must include demonstrated knowledge of pertinent federal and state laws related to healthcare.

Consultant Behavioral Health

This position screens, evaluates, and treats assigned patients to enable families, adults, and/or children to function optimally in their daily lives. He/she serves patients in an Integrated Care capacity ranging in age from toddler through late adulthood, as well as patients with mental retardation or emotional problems. The person screens, evaluates, and treats individuals or families who require assistance in daily living functioning to enable individuals/families to communicate more effectively and to cope more successfully with daily activities.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in social work – LCSW required – and have one to two years of experience as a mental-health professional.

Senior Accountant – Finance

This position assists with the generation and analysis of financial statements, as well as analysis and maintenance of the organization’s operating and capital budgets.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting – an MBA is preferred – and have at least three years of experience. Strong communications skills are required, as is self-motivation and knowledge of related systems and software programs.
