Bill Ziegler, principal of Pottsgrove High School, has been named the 2016-17 Principal of the Year by the Pennsylvania Principals Association, writes Eric Devlin of Berks-Mont News.
“This recognition is because of the hard work and tireless commitment of the Pottsgrove High School faculty and staff and our amazing students, parents and community,” Ziegler said. “I am blessed to serve as principal in a school and district that believes that every student can achieve at high levels and that puts students first when making decisions.”
Ziegler will join his fellow state principals of the year from across the country for consideration as 2017 National Principal of the Year in a program conducted by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
From this pool of state winners, three national finalists are named and interviewed by a distinguished panel of judges. The 2017 National Principal of the Year will be announced at the winner’s school during National Principals Month in October.
Bill Ziegler is the 2015-2016 president of the Pennsylvania Principals Association.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree in education from Kutztown, a Master’s Degree in education from Gratz College, and a Doctorate in educational leadership from Temple University. He received his principal’s certificate from Penn State.
Ziegler began his education career in 1994 as a social studies teacher at Pottstown High School. He has been an adjunct professor in graduate education at Temple University since 2007, and has served as a representative for National Association of Secondary School Principals on the International Society for Technology in Education Congressional Panel for the E-RATE Program.
In 2015, Ziegler was selected as a National Association of Secondary School Principals Digital Principal, an award that honors principals who exhibit bold, creative leadership in their drive to harness the potential of new technologies to further learning goals.
