A new home for sale in Penn Valley looks like it was ripped out of the pages of a fairytale, but if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find a unique blend of modern style and medieval character, writes Sandy Smith for Philadelphia Magazine.

Smith describes the exterior of the home as “a topless turret and a battlement without crenellations” that “flank a bridge over a nonexistent moat.”

Inside, the medieval feel continues with a foyer that functions more as courtyards as it leads to a series of corridors.

Because the house sits on a steeply sloping wooded lot, the main floor of the house is multilevel. The corridors lead to the different areas of the main floor while the turret houses stairs to the second floor.

The kitchen has been recently renovated and has been decked out with an extra-large refrigerator-freezer and an eight-burner gas range with a double oven. With the dining and breakfast rooms, there is plenty of seating for gatherings of friends and family.

Off the breakfast room is a glassed-in sunroom that has a great view of the decks and backyard. And just a short flight of steps from the hallway and the living room is a two-story high family room.
