The chamber’s 58th Annual Dinner, held on October 25 was the setting for the announcement of a new name for the largest business organization in Montgomery County.

Board Chair, Dan Reavy, McMahon Associates, presented the State of the Chamber address, which concluded with, “effective tonight the Chamber will be known as The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County.”

Reavy shared that the change was part of the 3 year strategic plan to rebrand the former PennSuburban Chamber “to have a name that reflects the profile of our members.” A new URL, www.chambergmc.org and tagline, “Connecting Community and Commerce since 1913” was also revealed, according to a press release from the chamber.

The Chamber has been serving business interests since 1913, and during its 104 year history has gone through a number of visual and name branding changes.

In 2008, the former North Penn Chamber of Commerce took a regional focus through the merger with the Suburban Chamber of Commerce, creating the PennSuburban Chamber of Commerce. Since that time, membership has increasingly expanded throughout greater Montgomery County with over 800 businesses supporting the chamber. The logo, which has been in use since 1999, will remain in order to assure members and the business community that the rebranding is a clarification rather than a change of goals and objectives of the Chamber.

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County’s mission is to provide connections, events, education and resources which add value for its members and the business community.
