At a meeting tonight, April 4, Westtown Township officials will discuss the possibility of purchasing almost two-thirds of the 322-acre Crebilly Farm from the Robinson family, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News. 

The township would buy 208 acres of the farm for $20.8 million, or $100,000 per acre. Meanwhile, Natural Lands may purchase the remaining acreage. The township would seek grant money for the purchase within the next year. 

The Robinsons have owned the property since 1937. They recently listed it with a realtor for $34 million, or $110,000 per acre. 

Many Chester County citizens are hoping the township decides to buy the land to avoid development. Toll Brothers already proposed building 319 homes on the farm, which is the largest available open space in the region. 

Hundreds of concerned citizens flocked to public meetings that lasted for hours to oppose the homebuilder’s plan. They argued that the site should be preserved due to its link to the Revolutionary War. The project was voted down.
