Jeff Yass, a Haverford entrepreneur and co-founder of Susquehanna International Group, with a net worth of $59 billion, is the richest man in Pennsylvania, according to Forbes, writes Kara Seymour for the Patch.
Yass attended SUNY Binghamton and became a pro gambler. He started trading on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange in the early 1980s and co-founded Susquehanna – one of Wall Street’s largest and most successful trading firms – in 1987 with a handful of partners.
Today, the company employs over 3,000 people. It is particularly known for its unusual approach to recruiting and training, as it sends its traders to poker tournaments to sharpen decision-making skills. Over the years, its traders have so far managed to win three World Series of Poker bracelets.
Susquehanna’s most valuable asset is its stake in ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok.
Meanwhile according to the Forbes Richest Person in Every State 2025 list, the richest person in the United States and the world is Elon Musk, co-founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and five more companies, whose current worth stands at around $386.5 billion.
