After four years with the St. Joe’s track team, Gavin Campbell decided to pass on the job he had already arranged with PricewaterhouseCoopers and returned as a graduate assistant, writes Mia Messina for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“I have plenty of time to go work, but right now, it kind of felt like my duty to come back and to help these guys and girls be the best they can be, and I haven’t regretted it for a day,” said Campbell. “I’ve had a ton of fun, too. [It’s] been a great experience. I think it’s made me a better person.”
During his four years with the team as a middle-distance runner, Campbell racked up numerous accomplishments, including running the first leg of the 4×800-meter relay that won gold at the Atlantic 10 outdoor championship last spring.
On March 1, St. Joe’s men’s 4×800 won gold once again at the same championship, and this time Campbell witnessed it from the other side.
“It’s pretty interesting that Gavin was on those teams from the beginning, and now he’s coaching with us,” said middle-distance coach Chris Tarello.
