This Local Spot Is One of Six Great Philadelphia-Area Riverside Bars and Restaurants

Spring 2023 has been unfolding rather slowly weatherwise; however, Mother Nature can’t remain sluggish for long. And once her warm, sunny days and evenings kick in for good, they will create prime conditions for visiting a bar or a restaurant that offers gorgeous views of a local waterway.

Jenn Ladd’s Philadelphia Inquirer list of six go-to musts for water-view dining includes one in Montgomery County: The Duck Inn Taproom, 532 Gravel Pike, Collegeville.

Duck Inn Taproom occupies the 108-year-old Perkiomen View Hotel.

Its bi-level back porches overlook Perkiomen Creek, and patrons are welcome to use the kayaks and canoes moored below.

“There’s no signing up or signing them out,” said manager Morgan Wagner. It’s an honor system among patrons that has thus far proven workable: borrow, paddle, return.

Customers can also kayak or tube to the bar as well as using the onsite resources to navigate short distances away from it. And there are plenty of reasons to go, regardless of transport. Its bottle beer selection is deep, and food-wise, the duck wings, in “Quack Sauce,” are recommended.
