Norristown’s Geno Auriemma hired Chris Dailey as an assistant coach 38 years ago and promoted her to associate head coach in 1988. The pair have been an unstoppable force at the University of Connecticut women’s basketball program ever since. Remy Tumin reported their on-court secret sauce in The New York Times.

The stats behind this duo are astonishing.

Together, they have coached over 40 All-American players, made it to 22 Final Fours, and won 11 championships.

They also recorded six perfect seasons and a 111-game winning streak, as well as sending close to 40 women to the WNBA, Rebecca Lobo and Sue Bird among them.

“When I hear the numbers, I think, that’s unbelievable, and if I didn’t live it, I might not believe it,” said Dailey.

The coaches have worked together for so long that they have fallen into a “divorced-parents” rhythm. If a player fails to get the answer they are looking for from one of them, she will go to the other.

But one thing is certain for both of them: They hold themselves and the Huskies program to high standards.
