Customers in Elkins Park – and beyond – do not mind waiting in long lines on weekend mornings to get a taste of The Cheesecake Lady’s decadent desserts, writes Jenn Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

And while the main reason for the long queues in all types of weather are the luscious four-inch rounds flavored with inventive toppings and mix-ins, the welcoming and warm personality of the owner, Vanessa Jackson, is also part of the draw.

Even with the constant stream of people, she can easily spot longtime supporters among them.

“I can tell who they are with their masks on because of their eyes,” she said.

Some of the patrons have been buying cheesecakes from Jackson for more than two decades when she began selling them out of her car.

She opened her first store in Jenkintown six years ago and moved to Elkins Park to a larger space in 2018. But not even the pandemic has been able to prevent people from stopping by for her cheesecakes.

“Business is booming, and has been from the day we opened,” she said.
