This Weekend: Quilt Show Unfolds at Oaks Expo Center
The days of shortening sunlight, exit of summer heat and humidity, and cooler temperatures make a very appropriate setting for the 2022 Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, open until Sept. 18 (tomorrow) at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks.
The 29th edition of the show, presented by Mancuso Show Management of New Hope, is an eyeful, comprising more than 400 quilts and works of textile and wearable art from across the country.
Display and Fashion Show
“The amazing thing about the extravaganza is that there are two fashion shows along with two lectures presented by nationally renowned quilt artists, all included with registration and general admission,” states Diana Mercuri, Mancuso’s Director of Education and Business Development.
This Quilt Extravaganza is a complete array of vendor shopping, stunning quilt displays, lectures, fashion shows, demonstrations, and workshops: everything for the quilt and textile enthusiast and those who just come to admire.
As part of this year’s extravaganza, attendees will be able to view the entries from the 2022 juried and judged National Quilt Competition. Its theme this year asked quilters returning wholly to their art after pandemic interruption: How are you stepping up your game in the art of quilting?
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and public admission is $15; Sunday hours are shorter — the show closes at 4 p.m., and the price is reduced to $13. Children under 16 are free, and group discounts (20+ attendees) are available.
