Montgomery County Among Top Five Paycheck Friendly Places in Pennsylvania

Montgomery County ranks among the most paycheck friendly places in Pennsylvania, according to a recently released report by SmartAsset.

To determine the paycheck friendliness of each county, SmartAsset used four main metrics: Semi-Monthly Paycheck, Purchasing Power, Unemployment Rate, and Income Growth.

Montgomery County came fifth with an overall paycheck friendliness index of 53.85.

According to the report, the purchasing power in the county is 2.23, which is significantly higher than the state’s 1.53 as well as the second-highest of all the counties.

Montgomery County was also the county with the seventh-lowest unemployment rate in the state at 5 percent. The state unemployment rate is 6.3 percent.

However, the average semi-monthly paycheck in the county is $1,586, which is slightly lower than the $1,589 state average. This puts it near the bottom of the list statewide, at No. 62.

The county also failed to rank among the top ten in income growth, placing at No. 34 with 2.8 percent. That is slightly above the state’s average of 2.7 percent.

For the region, all Philadelphia collar counties ranked near the top for paycheck friendly places. Chester County ranked first, Bucks County was second, and Delaware County came in fourth.
