Summer Camps Offer Something for All Students at Steel River Playhouse in Pottstown
Summer is just around the corner, and students from 3rd to 12th grade have a chance to learn, perform, and have fun at this year’s Steel River Playhouse Summer Camps.
The camps are divided into two sessions, with choices for rising 3rd through rising 6th graders, and rising 7th through 12th graders. Each age group has the opportunity to do 2 different sessions with 2 different shows this year, so register for both camps and take full advantage.
Choose from The Little Mermaid Jr. or The Music Man Jr., or plan to do both. Camp sessions run for two weeks from 9 AM to 4 PM, with the first session beginning on June 27th.
The Little Mermaid Jr. tells the story of a beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, who longs to leave her ocean home-and her fins-behind and live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.
In The Music Man Jr. Master showman Harold Hill is in town and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist his powerful allure?
The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize.
The catch? He doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end in spite of himself.
Education Director Stacey Michaud notes that “Music Theater Summer Camp at Steel River Playhouse provides children with the chance to create, collaborate and have fun while storytelling through singing, dancing and acting.”
The cost for each camp will be $553 with payment plans available. For more information contact stacey.michaud@steelriver.org, or register here.
