City & State Pennsylvania’s 2021 40 Under 40 list is out, and one mover and shaker with ties to Montgomery County has found his place among the most influential Pennsylvanians under the age of 40.

Zach Shamberg, an Ursinus College graduate and President and CEO of Pennsylvania Health Care Association, is one of the most vocal advocates for the long-term care community in the Keystone State.

He has fought for resources for nursing homes since the first days of the pandemic.

A year and a half later, his advocacy holds steadfast as both legislature and stakeholders continue to grapple with staffing shortages in nursing homes.

As head of PHCA, he represents over 400 member facilities across the state.

After graduating from college with a degree in communication and politics, Shamberg started working for state Rep. Todd Stephens, serving both as a campaign manager and chief of staff.

When he first joined PHCA, he served as director of advocacy and legislative affairs. He took over as the organization’s president and CEO in April 2019.

He also serves as a board member of the Pennsylvania Coalition for Civil Justice Reform.
