New York Times: Montgomery County Remains at ‘Very High Risk’ for Unvaccinated People
The spread of the Delta variant throughout the country is not slowing down, pushing the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County further up and maintaining it at a very high level, according to The New York Times.
Last week, there was an average of 175 new daily cases reported in the county, which is a 17 percent increase compared to the two weeks prior, due to the Delta variant.
Since the start of the pandemic, at least 1 in 10 residents have been infected by COVID-19, totaling 79,577 reported cases.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 has slightly increased in the last two weeks by four percent, with an average of 83 percent of I.C.U. beds occupied as of September 23.
Deaths also increased, with 18 new fatalities over the same period.
Montgomery County continues to be at very high risk for unvaccinated people.
On a positive note, the number of fully vaccinated people in the county also continues to increase and is now at 59 percent.
This includes 69 percent of fully vaccinated residents aged 12 and up and 75 percent of fully vaccinated people aged 65 and up.
