Mass Vaccination Site to Open in Montgomery County

By

A mass vaccination site that will help administer COVID-19 vaccine doses to as many people as possible will open on Wednesday at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, writes Bob Brooks for 6abc.

“Our goal is to get up to 2,000 a day, but we probably won’t reach that until the end of January,” said Interim Health Administrator Janet Panning. “So our immediate goal is 1,000 a day, but that depends on how much vaccine we receive.”

The county is currently focusing on vaccinating frontline health care workers. Residents will have to register for their vaccine on Montgomery County’s COVID-19 website.

The county has been receiving 2,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine each Wednesday morning for the past two weeks.

Neighboring Delaware County is also getting ready to roll out three mass vaccination sites, including one in Yeadon.

According to state Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine, 135,044 Pennsylvanians have been vaccinated as of Monday. Levine said that it will take several months before the wider population can expect to get the vaccine.

She foresees that an appointment style system will be implemented to avoid long lines once the expanded rollout launches.
