With Spending Down, Willow Grove Man Able to Weather Pandemic Despite Losing His Job
With his spending significantly reduced across the board, Daniel Brennan of Willow Grove has been able to weather the pandemic despite having lost his job as a toy designer in March, writes Stacy Cowley for The New York Times.
Brennan is able to hold things together by utilizing a combination of aid money and loan relief programs. His monthly expenses were reduced by $280 by a six-month forbearance on federal student loan collections. And while he started getting bills once again this month, he was able to get an extension approved until February.
Recently separated, the 46-year-old also decided to give up an apartment he was living in and move back into the Willow Grove house he owns with his soon-to-be ex-wife. Additionally, the pair were granted a deferment on home payments by their mortgage lender, Wells Fargo, at least until the end of the year.
This has provided Brennan with enough cash flow to buy essentials such as food and gas while also keeping current on his car loan and credit card bills.
“Not paying the mortgage is making everything work,” said Brennan.
