Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks to Welcome National Dog Show, No Spectators

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Show will take place on November 14 and 15 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks with no spectators.

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Show will take place on November 15 and 16 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks with no spectators and the approving guidance of Montgomery County health and safety authorities.

As every year, the holiday family favorite will air Thanksgiving Day, November 26, following the telecast of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

While in recent years there were two separate dog shows during the big Philadelphia weekend, this time the club will conduct just one show divided over two days. The competition will be limited to around 600 dogs, which is a 70 percent decrease from its usual nearly 2000 entries.

Also in addition to no spectators, there will be no vendors, sponsors, or media on hand. And to ensure the safety of all participants, this year the competition will not be benched.

Other safety measures include masks and hand sanitizer that will be handed out, with both mask-wearing and social distancing strictly enforced.  Medcor nurses will take the temperature of all participants. No one, other than officials, dogs and their handlers, NBC personnel, and security will be permitted on the premises.
