By doing one project a year, Stephanie and Mike Sinoway have slowly customized and updated their two-story, stone-and-stucco home in Wynnewood to perfectly suit their needs, writes Sally A. Downey for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

When the pair purchased the 1985 residence eight years ago, they first enclosed the back porch and worked on replacing the foyer tile. They also replaced the worn hardwood in the living areas on the first floor with wide-planked oak floors.

Their next projects included switching out the huge tub in the main bath with a walk-in shower, providing them with space for a washer and dryer on the second level. Meanwhile, the former first-floor laundry room was turned into a pantry.

The yard has been updated and boasts a sloping lawn, attractive shrubbery, and flower beds. The edge of the driveway also now features a newly installed basketball hoop.

In addition to the couple, the household includes their two children, 7-year-old daughter Alex and 10-year-old son Max, two pooches, Dobie and Chloe, and the latest arrival, a rabbit named Luna, who lives in a hutch in the finished basement.

With so many energetic inhabitants, “everything needs to be durable,” said Stephanie.
