Montgomery County COVID-19 Saturday Morning Update – April 4th
Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Commissioner’s Friday afternoon 3:00 PM press conference, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County, the Delaware Valley and Pennsylvania.
There were 71 new positive Montgomery County COVID-19 cases reported on Friday, down from 113 new cases reported Friday.
The positive cases are from 33 municipalities, only one of which, Hatfield Borough (1), reported its first case.
A breakdown of Friday’s reported new positive cases follows:
- Age Range: 7 to 87 years-old
- Age Brackets: (2) 0 – 9, (2) 10 – 19, (15) 20 – 29, (7) 30 – 39, (10) 40 – 49, (18) 50 – 59, (11) 60 – 69, (4) 70 – 79, (2) 80 – 89, (0) 90 – 94
- Gender: 37 females, 31 males
- Hospitalized: (3) Yes, (1) Home, (57) Unknown
The 71 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 778 countywide.
Of those 707 confirmed cases countywide, 380 are male, 385 are female.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 is 47.1 years old with the youngest patient being a 1-month-old baby and a 95 year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Fiftysix of the county’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

Three new coronavirus related death, an 87 year-old Upper Gwynedd woman, a 94 year-old Springfield woman and a 73 year-old Abington man, all hospitalized, were reported in Montgomery County Friday, moving the County’s COVID-19 death toll to 15, 14.7-percent of the 102 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s total number of reported cases represent 9.4-percent of the 8,320 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
Since testing began on March 20th, Montgomery County has tested 3,149 individuals for COVID-19 at its Drive-through Testing Center in Upper Dublin. Of those tested, results from only 62-percent of the tests have been returned to the county. Through Friday, 17-percent of returned tests came back as positive.
By comparison, as of noon Friday, with the exception of Philadelphia County with 1,852 cases, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive COVID-19 cases than does Montgomery County:
