Montgomery County COVID-19 Thursday Morning Update – April 9th

Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Commissioner’s Wednesday afternoon press conference, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County, the Delaware Valley and Pennsylvania.

As of 10:00 AM Wednesday morning, Montgomery County reported 108 new COVID-19 cases. 

The new positive COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday are from 31 municipalities, none of which reported their first case. 

A breakdown of Wednesday’s reported new positive cases follows:

  • Age Range: 15 – 99
  • Age Brackets: (0) 0 – 9, (6) 10 – 19, (5) 20 – 29, (12) 30 – 39, (17) 40 – 49, (23) 50 – 59, (12) 60 – 69, (13) 70 – 79, (11) 80 – 89, (9) 90 – 99, (0) 100 – 109, (0) 110 – 119
  • Gender: 60 females, 48 males

The 108 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,402 countywide.

Of those 1,402 confirmed cases countywide, 671 are male, 703 are female.

The average age of individuals with COVID-19 is 51.3 years old with the youngest patient being a 1-month-old baby and a 110 Abington man, the oldest.

Fiftynine of the county’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Of Montgomery County’s 61 municipalities, only Bryn Athyn, Pennsbury and West Conshohocken report zero cases of COVID-19.

Eleven new coronavirus related death of individuals ranging from 48 to 93 years-old were reported in Montgomery County on Wednesday. The new deaths moves the County’s COVID-19 death toll to 43, 13.9-percent of the 309 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.

The County’s total number of reported cases represent 8.6-percent of the 16,239 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.

By comparison, as of noon Wednesday, with the exception of Philadelphia County and Lehigh County, with 4,456 and 1,319 COVID-19 cases respectively, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive cases than does Montgomery County:
