As part of its Sound Recording and Music Technology program, Montgomery County Community College will host a Master Class on the History of Philadelphia Soul Music on Feb. 19 at the Advanced Technology Center in Blue Bell.

Starting at noon, guest presenters Skeme Richards, Froz1, and Philly Dave Louis will discuss Philadelphia-based soul music as well as the early history of Philadelphia’s music industry.

Richards is an internationally recognized DJ from Philadelphia, while Froz1 is a member of the Little Big Things Crew DJ group, and Louis is the former drummer for punk band Negative FX and now owns a label.

MCCC’s SRT Master Classes provides students and community members with an open forum where they can engage with professionals who have made successful careers in the music and recording industry. During the classes, guests will talk about their careers and experiences and then hold a Q&A session with the audience. The Master Classes are free and open to the public.

MCCC’s Sound Recording & Music Technology program provides students with an extensive background in sound recording, music production, and music technology analogues for the first two years at the conservatory.
