In the latest episode of Community Connections, host Chuck Kirlin sat down with Edward Harris, Chief Marketing Officer of Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board, to talk about the organization and its activities.

The main role of VFTCB is to help fill hotels in Montgomery County by letting visitors know there are lots of things to do throughout the entire year.

The strategy has been working. According to Harris, the number of tourists coming to Montgomery County has been pretty even all year-round.

In addition to shopping which has a huge economic impact on the county, “we have places like Spring Mountain Skiing too, that carry us in the wintertime,” he said.

The rich theater scene is another draw during the colder months, among many others.

Meanwhile the warmer seasons offer options such as 100 miles of trails, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding, and many other fun activities.

Golf is big in the region as well, said Harris, with 53 golf courses in the county. These include some of the most historic clubs in the country, such as the Philly Cricket Club in Flourtown and Blue Bell Country Club.
