In response to the fast growth of the tourism and hospitality industry and increasing employment opportunities in these fields, Montgomery County Community College has launched a new Tourism & Hospitality Management Program.

The program launch was announced Nov. 6 during the celebratory event at MCCC’s Culinary Arts Institute in Lansdale.

Keynote speaker was Megan Miller, national director of sales at Hersha Hospitality Management.

The program aims to prepare students for a career in the high-demand areas of tourism and hospitality.

“Hotels provide 1 in 25 jobs in the U.S. and contribute to more than $660 billion annually to the country’s GDP, and annual sales have increased 44 percent since 2015,” said Miller. “Your future in the hospitality space is going to be bright.”

The two-year, associate degree program will prepare students for a range of entry to mid-level leadership positions in the tourism and hospitality industry.

It will also pave the way for continuing their education at a four-year institution.

MCCC offers a 30-credit Tourism and Hospitality Certificate Program which can be completed in as little as two full-time semesters.

This will provide a credential for students already employed in the industry or those who have their bachelor’s degree.
