Five Outstanding Local Projects Honored with Montgomery Awards
Five outstanding local projects have been honored with the annual Montgomery Awards sponsored by Montgomery County Planning Commission and Montgomery County Conservation District, according to a staff report from The Pottstown Mercury.
The program recognizes the best in planning and design, advocacy, and environmental stewardship in Montgomery County. It also acknowledges the high-quality work and commitment of local communities, organizations, and professionals.
Among the projects recognized at the 52nd award celebration were Crest Manor in Abington Township, the Innovation and Discovery Center at Ursinus College in Collegeville Borough, Stoneleigh: a natural garden in Lower Merion Township, and Walk & Bike Pottstown in Pottstown Borough. The Asplundh Cancer Pavilion in Upper Moreland Township was also honored with the 2019 Environmental Stewardship Award.
Meanwhile, Catherine M. “Kate” Harper, Esq. was recognized with a 2019 Planning Advocate Award.
“These award-winning projects are excellent examples of transformative and sustainable development, realizing the community’s vision through extensive collaboration,“ said Jody L. Holton, executive director of the Montgomery County Planning Commission.
She added that all the winners “touch on the goals and themes of Connected Communities, Sustainable Places, and Vibrant Economy contained in Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, Montgomery County’s comprehensive plan.“
