Rob Lawless, a Norristown native and Penn State graduate, is continuing his quest to make 10,000 new friends all over the country within a decade, writes Mike Monsell for 6ABC.

Lawless graduated from Penn State six years ago. He built up a big network of friends while studying, something he missed after he joined the professional world.

The idea to dedicate a decade of his life to meeting 10,000 new friends came from his desire to recapture the feeling he had while at school and to create his own path in life.

“I thought to meet 10,000 people would be the coolest path I could do,“ said Lawless.

The first person he met for his project was Jim Brady, who runs BillyPenn.com. Lawless considers him and all the other people he has met his friends, even if their interactions usually last no longer than an hour.

And thanks to the popularity of his project, he has no problems finding new candidates to meet. Many people who have heard about him now contact him directly through social media to arrange to meet and become friends.
