King of Prussia native Mike Coleman selected as chairman of board of directors of Comfort Cases

To date, the charity has distributed more than 60,000 Cases to children in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Comfort Cases continues to expand its reach with a goal of providing Cases and Comfort XLs to each of the more than 270,000 youth who enter our foster care every year.

Comfort Cases national non-profit announced the appointment of Mike Coleman as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for the organization. Comfort Cases mission is to provide comfort and dignity to children entering foster care by providing them with Comfort XLs, duffel bags, and Comfort Cases, backpacks filled with essential personal items such as shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, toys, coloring books and much more.

With their tagline, #NoMoreTrashBags, they seek to provide all youth entering into foster care with these essential and comfort elements to encourage self-esteem, confidence and self-reliance.

“Our goal has always been to start locally but then expand nationally and we know that we need a strong board and supporters to get there.  The fact is that over 470,000 children are in our broken foster care system and it’s a crisis so we need to be the agent of change,” said Rob Scheer, Comfort Cases Founder.

Mike has an exceptionally diverse background in the business and human services fields, and currently leads one of the top real estate teams in the country. Prior to real estate, Mike was a foster care case manager in Pennsylvania, and a Childcare Specialist with The Children’s Home in Catonsville, MD.   While real estate was supposed to be a part-time way of putting himself through law school, he quickly saw the potential of making it a full-time career that would enable him to pursue his other goals. Since graduating law school, he has scaled his real estate business to a level that allows him to use his law degree for what matters most to him–as an advocate for vulnerable children in the foster care and special education systems.

“As we continue to grow, expand and provide vital services to the foster care population we know that, with Mike’s leadership, dedication and passion, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of youth in foster care,” said Anthony Bonetti, Executive Director for Comfort Cases.

Mike passionately reinvests the profits from his business into youth programs and non-profits in the Philadelphia and Baltimore areas. He personally mentors several local youths as they transition from foster care into their adult lives, and continues to work at The Children’s Home, both as a direct care staff and also as a fundraiser and donor for the facility’s critical programs. The ability to impact this vulnerable population is what drives Mike to achieve at the highest possible level every single day.

Mike lives in King of Prussia, with his wife, Sarah, and their son, Tyreek, and loves to travel and study martial arts in his free time.
