Eagles mascot Swoop kicks off Early Access Mornings at Elmwood Park Zoo
Elmwood Park Zoo offers the opportunity for our guests with special needs and their family to enjoy early entry to the zoo. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the zoo in a relaxing setting before it opens to the general public.
Elmwood Park Zoo’s Early Access Mornings provide guests with a 9:00 am entry to the zoo before the 10:00 am public opening. They are designed to offer zoo guests with special needs and their families a quieter, more relaxed setting before the rush of the crowds. There will be some friendly animals to meet and zoo staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance.
Early Access Mornings are part of Elmwood Park Zoo’s larger efforts to offer services to guests with Autism and other sensory needs. In 2018, Elmwood Park Zoo, 1661 Harding Blvd. in Norristown, was the first zoo in the world to earn certification as a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
Early Access Mornings take place on the first Saturday of every month, April through September. Admission pricing is discounted to $10.95 per person, and admission is free to zoo yearly members. Registration is available online at elmwoodparkzoo.org.
