PJM Interconnection recognized by United Way

PJM Interconnection, operator of the nation’s largest power grid, has received the United Way Impact Award from the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. The award recognizes a company for outstanding results in the areas of charitable giving and volunteerism, according to prnewswire.com.

“The culture of caring and giving back is ingrained in PJM and our employees. We are honored to receive the Impact Award from United Way, and we value our collaborative efforts that help us to support others in our community,” said Nora Swimm, PJM senior vice president of Corporate Client Services.

In 2017, approximately 285 PJM employees volunteered to help local charitable organizations including Philabundance, Cradles to Crayons, Manna on Main Street, North Light Community Center and the Elmwood Park Zoo.

PJM has a Volunteer Day program that allocates each employee one day off per calendar year, with pay, that can be used for volunteer activities.

PJM employees also contributed $150,000 to the United Way campaign in 2017.
