Audubon-based Globus Medical acquires developer of surgical planning software

Globus Medical, a company based in Audubon that specializes in products and technology used in musculoskeletal and spine injuries, acquired Nemaris Inc., a company that develops and markets surgical planning software.

Dave Demski, the CEO of Globus, said the acquisition of Nemaris and its Surgimap platform — which allows health care professionals to simulate potential surgical outcomes and share medical imaging globally — will boost his company’s efforts to advance computer-assisted surgery, with the goal of improving patient outcomes, writes John George in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

New York spine surgeon and Nemaris co-founder Dr. Frank Schwab believes the partnership of the two companies will produce terrific benefits to surgeons who are interested in less invasive robotic and navigation-based procedures.

The combination of companies will bring  “enormous benefit to the entire spine community.
