“Discover Your Future,” presented by AAUW Lansdale Branch in conjunction with Montgomery County Community College, is a day of interactive workshops conducted by outstanding women leaders and role models in Biology, Chemistry, Technology, Engineering, Physics and Math. Designed for girls in grades 5-8, the program creates a fun environment to inspire girls about opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

“Discover Your Future” will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at MCCC’s Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell for a nominal charge. Register online at https://DYF2019.EventBrite.com

Parents are invited to attend a free optional session that includes keynote speaker Dr. Nina Maouelaninin, CEO and president of Lung Health Solutions; presentations on “How to Help Your Daughter Pursue a STEM Career” and “PA 529 Plans to Pay for College”; and a tour of MCCC’s campus, including the new Sound Recording & Music Technology mixing studio.

Dr. Maouelaninin began her medical career at Crozer-Chester Medical Center after graduating from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. In 2008, she began a three-year fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at Drexel University/Hahnemann University Hospital. After completing the fellowship in 2011, Dr. Maouelanin established the first successfully run interventional pulmonology programs in Pennsylvania, drawing upon her extensive training in the field and program leadership experience. Today, she is the CEO and president of Lung Health Solutions. In this role, she oversees the day-to-day and big picture operational needs of providing state-of-the-art care to lung cancer patients in the Greater Philadelphia region.

“Discover Your Future” strives to overturn the stereotype that girls are less capable or not interested in STEM subjects. The program is a great opportunity for girls to imagine themselves in STEM careers. The American Association of University Women is a non-partisan advocacy organization dedicated to advancing gender equality for women and girls through research, education and advocacy.
